Mia
Serracino

Mia Serracino is a Maltese/British mezzo soprano currently based in London. She studied at the Royal Academy of Music and is now working as a freelance singer and vocal leader.

 

In 2026, Mia joined Hampstead Garden Opera in their production of Britten's 'The Rape of Lucretia', playing the role of Bianca. She also made her solo debut as ‘Rosie Casals’ with the Philharmonia Orchestra in BALLS by Laura Karpman, conducted by Marin Alsop at the Royal Festival Hall. She joined the Opera Holland Park chorus this summer in their production of Turandot, and has previously been a chorus member with Royal Academy Opera and Hampstead Garden Opera. Other roles include Carmen, Cherubino, and Meg Page (all performed with Royal Academy of Music opera scenes). During her time at the Academy, Mia was a member of the Prepatory Opera pathway, and performed the role of Fennimore (Fennimore and Gerda: Delius) with Royal Academy Opera School. 

 

Mia has been a recitalist at venues such as Wigmore Hall, the Courtauld Institute of Art and the Purcell Room, Southbank Centre. During her time at the Academy, Mia was awarded both the Major Someren van Godfrey prize (2024) and the Flora Wilson prize (2022). Mia was a member of the Academy Song Circle and was a soloist for new arrangements of Ravel’s Sheherezade and Elgar’s Sea Pictures (for wind quintet and string quartet respectively). She now regularly performs as part of the voice/cello partnership, Duo Suzon.

 

In contemporary repertoire, Mia has originated roles in Daylighting by Louise Drewett (2022) and Satyrs by Toby Anderson (2024). She was a featured soloist with the Academy Manson Ensemble, under the baton of Timothy Weiss, and in 2025, premiered the new song cycle ROMA INDICTA by Jonty Lefroy Watt across the UK. Mia has been a participant of the Glyndebourne Opera Lab and a Southbank Young Artist, premiering her own composition, 'Period Songs', at the Purcell Room, Southbank Centre.

Mia also works as a freelance vocal leader across London. She is currently musical director of Harrow Road Community Choir and the Singing Lead for the Music in Secondary Schools Trust.

Mia graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in 2025, with a Master of Arts with Distinction. She previously attained a BMus (Hons) in 2023, and also holds a Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music in Vocal Pedagogy.
